WRAP CONSTRUCTION SCAFFOLDING FOR ADVERSE WEATHER

flame retardant shrink wrap is often used in construction sites as a scaffold wrapping film. In that role this containment system sets new standards for its amazing strength, durability, versatility and low maintenance.

We carry several different industrial shrink scaffold wrap; flame retardant and non flame retardant, sizes and mil thickness for all types of construction projects, weatherization wrap and environmental containment applications.

The construction scaffold wrap containment process is fairly simple with the proper equipment and material.  We specialize in the sale and installation of 9 and 12 mil flame resistant (certified to N.F.P.A. 701, large and small scale tests), thermo polyethylene shrink scaffold wrap with UVI for longevity.  This scaffold wrap is used extensively in Pro-Tect's design and installation of environmental containments which meet the requirements of SSPC Guide 61 Class 1 and Class 2.  A framework, such as scaffolding along with our special hi-tensile strength strapping and specially formulated tapes are required to install the commercial shrink wrap containment.  Once the material is in place, the process of shrinking the wrap is accomplished by using the Shrinkfast 998 (UL listed) propane fired heat gun.  The hot air produced by the heat gun is used to heat seam and seal the scaffold sheeting of thermo poly film together thereby forming a large impermeable barrier around the rigid or semi-rigid framework upon which it is installed.  The commercial scaffold wrapping film is then shrank up to 30% to form a tough, tight weather proof barrier which will virtually contain 100% of sandblast, paint, lead or asbestos residuals, dust and debris.
 

6 Mil is our thinnest recommended thickness for seasonal protection of outdoor furniture and other small, light-duty applications. Good for milder winters, or if the covered item will be fully or partially sheltered.

7 Mil is the most common thickness of shrink wrap used for marine applications like covering boats and jet skis. 7 Mil is also used for small to midsize scaffolding covers, crates, small equipment, and short-distance road travel. Able to handle harsh winters with moderate snow.

8 Mil and 9 Mil shrink wraps are used for covering large boats, large scaffolding, medium-to-large size equipment, or if the object to be wrapped has considerably sharp edges. These thicker films are more puncture-resistant and can sustain higher levels of heat during the shrinking process.

10 Mil shrink wrap is our first choice for wrapping heavy equipment for road transportation. (Any shrink wrap Vents must be applied at the destination.) The additional thickness of 10 mil shrink wrap makes it better suited for industrial or construction/renovation applications. Projects such as temporary walls and dust barriers, and the protection of valuable equipment or rough materials for long-term storage.
