A biaxially oriented polyester (PET) film is a high quality product characterised by enormous resistance to high temperatures. It also has a great tensile strength (extremely tensile and tear resistant), excellent chemical, mechanical and thermal stability and outstanding transparency. Polyester films are a good electrical insulator, show low moisture absorption (0.3%) and high dielectric strength up to 180 kV/mm.
Classic polyester products are not printable. We carry numerous polyester products with special coatings that make the materials eminently printable. Possible printing methods are screen printing, printing with UV-curing and solvent-based inks as well as varnishes, silver conductive and dielectric inks. Polyester (PET) films have a high thermal stability against high temperatures and can be used permanently at temperatures from - 70 °C up to 150 °C. The melting point of the films is over 200 °C. Some polyester materials are additionally thermostabilised. These products have a high dimensional and thermal stability. A dimensionally stable plastic is less prone to moisture absorption and low thermal expansion.
Polyester films usually do not have a high scratch resistance. There are special products (Reflex LT) in our range that become scratch-resistant through a special surface coating. This makes them ideal for use in applications with high mechanical stress.
